Today's Godly Reminder - Romans 12:2

As a Christian, let us be the salt and light into this world. We all know that the world is full of ungodly things. In this kind of environment, let us be the light that shines through them. Let Jesus be seen in our lives. Ask God to change the way you think. When He changed it, then you will know His will for you that is perfect.

The Daily Grace - Doing the Opposite

A wilderness excursion can seem daunting, but for outdoor enthusiasts, this only adds to the appeal. Because hikers need more water than they can carry, they purchase bottles with built-in filters so they can use water sources along the way. But the process of drinking from such a container is counterintuitive. Tipping the bottle does nothing. A thirsty hiker has to blow into it to force the water through the filter. Reality is contrary to what seems natural.

As we follow Jesus, we find much that is counterintuitive. Paul pointed out one example: Keeping rules won't draw us closer to God. He asked, "Why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 'Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!'? These rules. . . are based on merely human commands and teachings" (Col. 2:20-22).

So what are we to do? Paul gave the answer. "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above" (3:1). "You died", he told people who were still very much alive, "and your life is now hidden with Christ in God" (v. 3). We are to consider ourselves "dead" to the values of this world and alive to Christ. We now aspire to a way of life demonstrated by the One who said, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matt. 20:26).

Today We Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, in You we live and move and have our being. I humbly pray You so to guide and govern me by Your Holy Spirit. That in all the cares and occupations of my life, I may not forget You, but may remember that I am ever walking in Your sight.

I remind myself that I am in Your presence. I will take refuge in Your loving heart. You are my strength in times of weakness and my comforter in times of sorrow.

Finally, may I go forth filled with the joy and confidence of Your Spirit. May everything I do this day, in word or deed, be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Focus on the Lord. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on heavenly things. Do not focus too much on things that are on the earth, which have only temporal value.

Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.

The Daily Grace - Learn to Wait on God

Cha Sa-soon, a 69-year-old Korean woman, finally received her driving license after 3 years of trying to pass the written test. She wanted the license so she could take her grandchildren to the zoo. She was persistent in what is normally an instant world. When we want something and cannot get it, we often complain and demand. At other times, we give up and move on if what we want cannot be quickly gratified.

"Wait" is a word we hate to hear! Yet, many times the Bible tells us that God wants us to wait on Him for the right timing. Waiting on God means patiently looking to Him for what we need. David recognized why he had to wait on the Lord. First, his salvation came from Him (Ps. 62:1). He learned that no one else could deliver him. His only hope was in God (v. 5), for God alone hears our prayers (v. 8).

Our prayers often revolve around asking God to hurry up and bless what we want to do. What if God's answer to us is simply, "Be patient. Wait upon Me?" We can pray with David: "Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly" (Ps. 5:3). We can trust His response, even if it doesn't come in the time we expect. The bottom line of every prayer should be, "Your will be done".

Today We Pray

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You that I can see or hear Your Word this morning. Let me give thanks all day for what I have, especially Your eternal love.

Forgive me this day when I go astray, by my thoughts or actions. My only aim is to please You, to know and do Your will. Guide my every step.

Support me all the day long of this troublous life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and my work is done. Then, of Thy mercy, grant me a safe lodging, and a holy rest and a peace at last. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen

Let God train us to walk straight in His presence and to follow His true path. Let Him tell us where He wants us to go. Also, obey Him that you will go there. Let us be faithful to Him always.

Live according to His truth! Ask Him to purify your hearts, so that we may honor Him. Respect Him completely. Always have a teachable heart for Him 'coz He knows everything for us and about us.
