Do nothing from factional motives or strife. But with an attitude of humility, regard others as more important than yourselves. Do not be arrogant or self-righteous. Don't do anything out of selfishness or empty conceit.
Don’t push your way to the front. Don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
In a world where "first come, first serve" .... VIP seating ... and valet parking is normal even to Christians, today's teaching seems outdated and old-fashioned. And yet I whole heartingly agree that unhealthy competition, in that there is one winner and one loser, causes more problems then the human race cares to admit. If a husband calls himself blessed for having found a wife, then surely a wife is blessed to have a husband who humbly helps others because through this selflessness the blessings flow.
