"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."
We have this precious treasure in earth. It is the good news about salvation in unworthy earthen vessels of human frailty. We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us. So that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be shown from God, from His sufficiency, and not from ourselves.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us.
Yes we are the clay jars in which the treasures of God in us are stored. This sayings goes with my retirement from civil service today. By God's grace His treasures in me still remain and will see me through. Pray for me beloved in God.
