Consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken. But alive to God, living in unbroken fellowship with Him in Christ Jesus. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you. God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did.
So, look upon your old sin nature as dead and unresponsive to sin. And instead, be alive to God, alert to him, through Jesus Christ our Lord. In the same way, you must think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin. But Christ Jesus has given life to you, and you live for God.
