Human heart can amazingly do a lot of things. If it malfunctions, our whole body will shut down. Although it just weighs on an average of 11 ounces, it pumps gallons of blood each day. Normally, we must have a heart beat of 70 - 75 beats per minute.
With these facts, we must do really take care of our hearts. Physically or spiritually, the same care should be rendered. In the Bible, the heart represents the center of our emotions, thinking and reasoning. It is our command center. That's why it is commanded to "Guard our hearts for it is the wellspring of life (Prov. 4:23)".
Human as we are, it is really difficult to guard our hearts. Life will always make demands upon our time and energy that cry out for immediate attention. But by taking time to hear God's Word and doing what it says, it will be easy for us. Be in line with Him and cling to Him. Invite Him in your hearts to rule and you will not give in to any spiritual heart attacks.
