The thought of this verse is similar to the popular verse in John 3:16. This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. We have come to understand the depth and essence of His precious love. He willingly laid down His life for us because He loved us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves.
We know what real love is from Christ’s example in dying for us. And so we also ought to lay down our lives for our Christian brothers. We must give our lives for each other. Let us support one another with Christ's love in our hearts.
