God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible. God’s Spirit doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of sound judgment and personal discipline. These are the abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control.
